SKILLSOOP’s exclusive client is a global FMCG business driving a strategically critical procurement development programme to enable growth via both organic and acquisition initiatives. Post strategic restructuring, which positioned the brand to focus on international growth and optimised communications, a position has become available in the Group procurement team for an experienced category manager to drive a $90m portfolio across facilities. Reporting to the Global Lead OPEX, the role will focus on ANZ, putting together TCO strategies across security services, MRO, cleaning, and the total facilities complex.
Position Purpose
The Category Manager – Facilities is responsible for leading and managing the procurement and supplier relationships for facilities-related spend across the business. This includes security services, site leases, and the management of fixed and movable assets within an FMCG environment. The role ensures cost efficiency, service quality, and risk mitigation while supporting the company’s operational, financial, and ESG objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Commercial Management
- Develop and implement category strategies for facilities services including security services, site leases, maintenance, and asset management.
- Identify and deliver cost savings, service improvements, and efficiency gains across facilities spend.
- Maintain deep knowledge of the facilities supply market, trends, and cost drivers.
Security Services
- Lead procurement and ongoing performance monitoring of security service providers across the site network.
- Ensure supplier compliance with legal, safety, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain regular site engagement and review meetings to optimize service quality and cost.
Leasing & Property Management
- Manage the lease portfolio and associated vendor relationships (landlords, property managers, agents).
- Lead lease negotiations, renewals, and review of lease terms in line with corporate objectives.
- Maintain oversight of facilities-related risk and compliance obligations.
Asset Management
- Develop and oversee strategies for the procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle optimization of site equipment, furnishings, and other fixed and movable assets.
- Ensure robust governance and recordkeeping for facilities assets, aligning with corporate policies.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Build strong relationships across site operations, finance, legal, risk, and compliance teams.
- Serve as subject matter expert for facilities category, providing insights and guidance to internal stakeholders.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Lead RFP/RFQ activity for relevant services, applying total cost of ownership and value-focused evaluation.
- Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, focusing on performance, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and review supplier performance via formal review meetings, KPIs, and service level agreements (SLAs).
Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain strict adherence to internal policies, statutory requirements, and corporate governance related to facilities, security, and leasing.
- Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risk associated with facilities suppliers.
Sustainability & ESG
- Incorporate ESG, environmental, and sustainability considerations into category strategies and supplier evaluations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental improvements across facilities.
Selection Criteria
Experience & Technical Skills
- 5–7 years’ experience in category management or procurement role within a complex environment, preferably FMCG.
- Strong understanding of facilities services (including security services), leasing agreements, and fixed asset management.
- Skilled in contract drafting, negotiation, and management across facilities and services.
Personal Attributes
- Strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent stakeholder and supplier relationship management.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to operate at both operational and executive levels.
Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Property, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- CIPS qualification or relevant professional membership highly regarded.
