We are currently seeking a Global Category Lead – Packaging Procurement, a high-impact leadership role focused on managing complex, cross-regional packaging supply chains. This position will be instrumental in shaping and executing global procurement strategies, driving value through innovation and cost optimization, and ensuring packaging solutions align with sustainability and regulatory expectations.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Category Strategy Development: Define and execute long-term global category strategies for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging in alignment with business growth plans, innovation roadmaps, and sustainability targets.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and manage strong, collaborative relationships with global packaging suppliers. Foster innovation and performance through structured supplier development and governance frameworks.
- Cost and Value Optimization: Utilize data analytics and market intelligence to identify and deliver year-over-year cost reduction opportunities (targeting 5% YoY) while enhancing packaging functionality and efficiency.
- Risk Mitigation & Supply Continuity: Anticipate and manage risks related to market volatility, raw material availability, and geopolitical dynamics. Establish contingency plans to safeguard continuity of supply.
- Sustainable Procurement Leadership: Collaborate with internal sustainability teams to ensure packaging procurement supports ESG goals. Ensure compliance with evolving regulations related to recyclability, extended producer responsibility (EPR), and modern slavery requirements across all sourcing regions.
- Innovation & NPD Enablement: Support the innovation pipeline and new product development by identifying and onboarding packaging suppliers capable of delivering cutting-edge, compliant, and cost-effective packaging solutions.
- Process Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in sourcing, onboarding, and packaging lifecycle processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce time-to-market.
- Reporting & Insights: Develop robust reporting and metrics to support S&OP, executive reviews, and category performance tracking. Provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making at both regional and global levels.
- Key Competencies:
- Extensive experience in global packaging procurement, with a deep understanding of packaging materials, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams including R&D, Operations, Quality, and Finance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead supplier negotiations and build long-term strategic partnerships.
- Proven track record in delivering cost savings, driving sustainability outcomes, and managing supply chain risks.
- Expertise in packaging sustainability frameworks, compliance standards, and circular economy principles.
