Overview:
SKILLSOOP’s client has undergone significant transformation in recent years, particularly within its procurement function. Previously operating regionally in Asia, the company has now adopted an integrated category-led procurement model. This shift aligns procurement with the broader business strategy to unlock greater value and foster stronger cross-regional connections.

Strategic Evolution & Growth:
Since private equity firm acquired our client four years ago, the group has seen consistent investment, particularly in the snacking segment. Strategic initiatives include the development of two new manufacturing facilities and the acquisition of four businesses; these moves underscore our client’s commitment to growth through M&A and operational enhancement. Asia has emerged as a high-growth market, with the region now benefitting from increased leverage under the integrated procurement framework. This evolution allows for more effective pricing strategies, broader supplier engagement, and enhanced value chain performance. PE influence brings an entrepreneurial mindset to the boardroom. While board members remain strategically involved, operational autonomy is granted to the executive team, fostering innovation and accountability across the business.

Procurement Function & Structure:
Procurement at our client comprises 32 FTEs and is a cornerstone of the group’s transformation. The function is focused on people, process, and streamlining operations to drive collective, strategic decision-making. Approximately 70% of the supply base is located within ANZ, making Sydney the optimal location for procurement leadership due to its proximity to key facilities across 3 substantial sites. This senior leadership role will manage a procurement portfolio valued between $170M–$200M, overseeing a team of 4–5 direct reports across Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The portfolio spans critical packaging categories such as cartons, cases, flexible packaging, rigids (septic), aluminium, and PT plastics. Each category holds a circa $25M spend, requiring strategic supplier management and upstream supply chain optimisation. With Asia’s expanded role in the new model, the Packaging Procurement Lead will have enhanced opportunities to influence supplier relationships, streamline engagement models, and drive value through regional collaboration and pricing strategy.

Our client’s growth is driven by supply chain optimisation (including DC design and automation), manufacturing innovation, and targeted acquisitions. The brand continues to leverage its strong market presence and intellectual property to maximise asset performance and shareholder value. The business seeks a commercially astute, change-oriented procurement leader with a passion for continuous improvement and value creation. As the external environment remains volatile—marked by inflation, geopolitical shifts, and commodity instability—strong, strategic procurement leadership is vital to navigate the evolving landscape and secure competitive advantage.
